Like This Is A Really Bad Idea

Why on EARTH would you knit something to cozy something that is set on FIRE? Is this for those candles that you arent supposed to burn? Why in the hell do people do that anyway? You buy a candle, you burn it, that’s IT! And you dont pay homage to it by covering it with, Ill be it somewhat pretty, KNITTING.
It’s not ugly, it’s just useless. Utterly utterly useless.

This puts me in mind of the half-melted and scorched plastic and wooden candle holders you sometimes see at the thrift store. What are people thinking?

I thought the same thing when I saw that. What a fire hazzard.

Perhaps this is part of the “Home Arson Kit”?

not only useless, but that could be dangerous too! What if it isn’t removed when the candle is lit and then the hot candle sets the cheap yarn ablaze and subsequently burns down all or part of your house? Careless candle users have strarted several house fires in my home town in the past year or so.

Plus wouldn’t it get all full of wax once the candle started melting…?

not all people light candles, but like them for decoration. or maybe just want to dress their candles up when they arent lit. I think there should be a warning on these types of patterns, even though I cant imagine anyone lighting a candle with a cozy on it

I saw this in the catalogue and thought it was supposed to go around a glass holder. Would make a bit more sense but this one looks like it’s just around the candle itself - dumb.

I suspect it’s a case of “hold the smelly candle so the fragrance oil weeping out doesn’t mar the furniture and if it ever airs out to the point it has no smell I might remove the cozy and light it” personally. Some of those cheap scented candles are more “block of smell” than candle.

I don’t see the point of it, but I also don’t melt my candles. I use them for decoration, mostly. They’re not pretty anymore if you melt them.

ok, I found a pic of an actual lighted candle with one of these things on, and here I was wandering how anyone could light a candle let alone take a pic of it, atleast they do say “be careful with the wick” http://bp2.blogger.com/_KkzBicVsrro/RyNHLlI3Z7I/AAAAAAAAASE/wNIlrAGdMRw/s1600-h/October+025.jpg

I think you meant to say “albeit” and not “Ill be it”.
And we “wander” to places and “wonder” about things.
If you’re going to criticize, grammar check please.

I would use that on a glass container with a candle in it, not by itself.

i have a very old home, and in the basement there is a socket with a showerhead directly over it. the crochet reminds me of that.
